Medical, vision and dental insurance are provided for members based on hourly contributions. Each member and his/her immediate family are covered according to requirements.
Retirement
Local 234 members participate in a Defined Contribution Plan through the Ninth District Pension Plan and the National Electrical Benefit Fund.

National Electrical 401(K) Plan (NEFP)
The 401(k) plan is an optional resource available to you in addition to the other benefits you receive as an IBEW member. Local 234 levels of participation are $2.00 per hour, $5.00 per hour, or $8.00 per hour. Selection can be made at dispatch. Education and Training (JATC)
Our training center is located at 10300 Merritt Street in Castroville. Apprentices attend classes two nights a week. Time and frequency of journeyman upgrade and continuing education classes vary. Contact the JATC at (831) 741-9069 for more details.
Labor-Management Cooperation Committee (LMCC)
The LMCC participates in a Labor-Management Cooperation Fund under authority of Section 6(b) of the Labor Management Cooperation Act of 1978, 29 U.S.C. §175(a) and Section 302(c)(9) of the Labor Management Relations Act, 29 U.S.C. §186(c)(9). The LMCC is comprised of (three) management representatives and (three) labor representatives.
